Description
Editorial services company is looking for freelance copyeditors to copyedit scientific and technical books. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid copyediting and proofreading experience to work flexible hours from their home office.

Responsibilities
• On-screen copyediting and proofreading of scientific and technical material, with an emphasis on writing clarity and correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Detect and correct inappropriate language usage by authors whose first language is not always English.

Requirements:
• Excellent command of English spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Strong knowledge of MS Word necessary.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Able to work with various publication styles and adhere to the style throughout the book.
• Able to provide quick turnaround of material and meet deadlines on short notice.
• Query authors about ambiguous statements and on the accuracy of text revisions.

Education and Experience
• Minimum 2 years professional writing or copyediting experience.
• Experience working with scientific and technical publications preferred.
• College degree is preferred but not essential.
• Thorough knowledge of English grammar, syntax, punctuation, and spelling.
