Description:

Primary Purpose: Provide technical writing support to the Center for Naval Analyses. Work with CNA Vice Presidents and Research Team Leaders as well as President, CNA to identify documents and topics that can be written to attract a broader audience and/or better communicate our results to the intended audience. Duties and/or Responsibilities:
1. Gather information and write and edit papers, articles, abstracts, newsletters, and web articles pertaining to CNA research.
2. Work with project leaders and managers to identify studies and other existing materials that are of value in communicating their work and re-work as appropriate.
3. Assist the CNA editorial staff in editing select materials for clarity and comprehension as appropriate for general and other audiences.
4. Identify opportunities for communications outreach within CNA and offer suggestions to President, CNA and CNA Vice Presidents on ways to capitalize on those opportunities.
5. Assist President, CNA in designing and producing a periodic report on CNA that is intended for broad distribution to current and prospective clients.
6. Assist CNA Vice Presidents on designing and producing publications that will aid them in describing their research programs to current and prospective clients.
7. Perform other writing support as assigned. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional writing and editing experience.

Skills: Solid command of the English language, grammar, punctuation, and spelling and the ability to write in a clear, concise, and creative manner. Strong skills in interpersonal relations, listening and task prioritization. Ability to work independently or as a team member with personnel from all levels. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to distill technical information in order to communication with a general audience. Experience synthesizing research. Ability to effectively convey information in differing formats. Strong computer skills (word processing, desktop publishing, Adobe PageMaker and Acrobat, and Microsoft Office). Bachelors Degree in Journalism, English or related subject.
