Managing Editor

Job Summary:

Seeking a highly motivated, creative, knowledgeable and hardworking free-lance managing editor for a new health division. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills, strong attention to detail, good organizational and multitasking skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a faced paced environment. This candidate must have a background in alternative health and share our philosophy of healthy living.

Responsibilities:

Assist in development and ongoing management of content for the website, eLetters and print newsletters
Manage relationship and coordinate efforts with editors, authors, columnist and researchers
Manage production schedule and editorial coverage
Liaise with marketing team contents and promotional materials
Reviews all content prior to publication to ensure accuracy
Work with designers to produce finished product
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and publisher

Qualifications:

B.A. in English, Creative Writing, Communications, Journalism or related field
Minimum 6 years work experience with 4 years experience editing or writing on-line content-based websites or consumer magazines
Solid knowledge of copy-editing and fact checking
Excellent grammar, spelling and English usage
