MHHE has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Editor in ourHumanities, Social Science and World Languages (HSSL) Division in Boston, MA. The Executive Editor is responsible for the acquisition, development, and publication of books and other instructor support materials. Accountable for achieving editorial quality and profitability for each title published under her/his sponsorship Responsibilities: Negotiating contracts with authors for new and revised works Creating new publishing opportunities Working with authors to produce high quality manuscripts that serve the needs of the instructors Preparing and proposing to editorial management a formal written plan for each title published which include P&L statements, schedules, market dynamics and strategy for success. Work with all appropriate company personnel to guide the timely and profitable publication of completed manuscripts Supervise the training and job performance of development staff Work with senior editorial management to develop short term and long term goals for the publishing program Maintain and strengthen working relationships with authors through frequent contact. Bachelor's degree Minimum of three years relevant experience - in acquisitions, sales, or marketing Successful publishing sales experience Excellent analytical, financial and communication skills Proficient level experience with MS Office, MS Windows and the web.
